Nitroxynil has CAS No. 1689-89-0, Mol. Wt. 290.01gms/mol, Molecular formula C7 H3 I N2O3. It is chemically known as 4-hydroxy-3–Iodo-5- Nitrobenzonitrile. Nitroxynil is an effective Fasciolide because of its anthelmintic activity which works against Fasciola hepatica infections in cattle, and sheep.
It is categorized under the category of Anthelmintic / Anti parasitic ( for veterinary use) and is very effective against parasitic flat worms causing the liver damage in cattle and sheep. Nitroxynil is available in light yellow or yellow colored powder form. It is practically insoluble in water, but sparingly soluble in ether and Slightly soluble in Ethanol.
