Albendazole

Albendazole CAS no. 54965-21-8 is an organic compound having Mol. formula C12 H15 N3O2S, mol. Wt 265.33 gm./mol. is a white to off white powder form. It is associated with the family of Benzimidazole and hence an important derivative of Benzimidazole. These derivatives are the drugs containing a benzene ring attached to an Imidazole ring . They are classified under the category of ‘Anthelmintic Agent’ (for veterinary use) and also known as Anthelmintics. Albendazole is an Anthelmintic drug used in the treatment of fluke infections of the digestive system caused by roundworms, tapeworms in domestic animals due to the presence of Parasitic flatworms called as Trematodes. It controls & destroys these worms, to act as an effective de-wormer to prevent their growth, production and their destruction.
